EL PASO- The El Paso Children’s Hospital has announced a new Pediatrician-in-Chief today.
Bradley P. Fuhrman, M.D., a professor of pediatrics and anesthesiology in New York, has been appointed as the new professor and Chair of the Department of Pediatrics at Texas Tech University Health Science Center (TTUHSC) Paul L. Foster School of Medicine and as the Pediatrician-in-Chief of the El Paso Children’s Hospital.
“Dr. Fuhrman’s appointment represents another step towards the quality children’s healthcare we’ve all dreamed of here in El Paso,” said Jose Manuel de la Rosa, M.D., Founding Dean TTUHSC Paul L. Foster School of Medicine. “He is representative of our commitment to bringing the highest caliber physicians around the country to practice at the El Paso Children’s Hospital.”
Dr. Fuhrman is an internationally recognized expert in alternative modes of life support and disaster preparedness. Dr. Fuhrman is the author or co-author of almost 200 articles and publications including the definitive textbook for pediatric care medicine, Pediatric Critical Care. Dr. Fuhrman has had numerous research inventions, patents and patent applications in his name.
He has served on the editorial boards of the Journal of Pediatrics, Critical Care Medicine, Pediatric Critical Care Medicine, as well as on the editorial committee of the World Journal of Pediatrics.
The El Paso Children’s Hospital is expected to open its doors in February 2012 as the first private non-profit children’s hospital in El Paso. The Paul L. Foster School of Medicine and the El Paso Children’s Hospital will continue to recruit new pediatric specialists that will provide services to the patients seen at the new hospital. Many of those will have dual roles as physicians at the new children’s hospital and as faculty at the medical school.
