Mya Melendez – NICU Testimonial

Mya Melendez

Mya was born in Las Cruces, New Mexico, at 22 weeks, six days weighing only one pound two ounces!  She was then transported to El Paso Children’s Hospital’s. Mya spent a total of 165 days spent in the Level IV NICU. As a respiratory therapist, Mya’s mom was familiar with being in a neonatal environment. But it was a completely different experience when her own baby was a patient! “I am extremely grateful to the transport team who picked us up from Memorial Medical Center and provided her with the best care on the way to EPCH,” she said. “I am extremely grateful to the nursing staff, respiratory staff and all the physicians for the excellent care, love and compassion that they gave to Mya and me. I will never be able to repay them for all the love and care that they gave to Mya. She is such a miracle to me, and I am amazed by her progress and strength every day. I can honestly say I’m truly blessed to have this experience.”
