Liam
Liam is 18 months old. On August 13, 2019, he was born at 32 weeks and was admitted into the Level IV NICU at El Paso Children’s Hospital that same night. The next day, Dr. Sahewalla saw him and she ordered an echocardiogram. After the ECG, we got the bad news that Liam had a large VSD in his heart, which is a hole in the wall separating the two lower chambers of the heart. Dr. Sahewalla saw him almost every two weeks. Although Liam was only a couple of months old, we felt comfortable that he knew exactly where he was and who his doctor was. He loves her and we knew he was in great hands.
When he turned exactly four months old, Liam was scheduled for surgery. On December 13, 2019, we traveled to San Antonio, where he was going to have open-heart surgery. It was hard on all of us because Liam’s siblings had to stay behind and we were going to be away for about a month. Dr. Sahewalla has been our angel since day one; she checked up on us all the time and even called to see how everything was going on surgery day and after the surgery. Liam’s surgery was a total success thanks to the surgeons, Dr. Sahewalla, and the hospital. After Liam’s recovery, we traveled back home, where he continues to be seen by Dr. Sahewalla, the best pediatric cardiologist in El Paso.
We would like to thank Dr. Sahewalla and El Paso Children’s Hospital for their great team and support. We are so glad that El Paso has a great specialist like Dr. Sahewalla. It’s great to have a hospital like El Paso Children’s Hospital that people can count on.
